| Screen Printing |
Did you know that screen printing was first developed by the Japanese? For hundreds of years they have been the supreme masters of this technique creating amazingly intricate and beautiful designs. The Japanese developed a means of applying stencils to a fine silk mesh, a technique that became the foundation of modern screen-printing.
At Atelier Lumys we develop screen printing design through softwares like Illustrator or Corel Draw, then it's printed on a transparent film. After that back to handcrafted work! A silk canvas is stretched onto a wooden frame, the design developed is printed onto the silk, and some paint on the silk is added. Place the fabric below the frame, take your squeegee, set and go!
The process is quite simple and the results are brilliant. Check out some of our screen printed designs below made using poplin in order to create the shade of these decorative lamps.
